Data released on Sunday showed that South Korean auto exports rose by 53% during the month of April compared to the same month last year, due to the global economic recovery.
The South Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as saying that South Korean car exports reached 188,293 units during the month of April.
South Korea’s exports of cars during the first four months of this year reached 734,448 units, an increase of 22.7% compared to the same period in 2020.
Hyundai exports increased by 40.3% after the launch of a new car model, in addition to the recovery in demand for sports cars.
Kia’s exports more than doubled to 89,500 units.
The data indicated that exports to North America increased by 66.4%, and to the European Union by 89.9%. Exports to other European countries increased by 52.4%.
Automobile exports to Asian countries more than doubled during the month of April compared to the same period last year.
Domestic car sales reached 161,97 units, down by 3.8% in April compared to the same month last year.
